FGHR was formed by improvisatory masters Darryn Farrugia, Leonard Grigoryan, Luke Howard and Ben Robertson in 2003.
Since then they have performed regularly in Australia, charting new territory to create the contemporary masterpieces Stationary (2007) and Going Home (2009). These evocative releases showcase the skill and sensitivities of these seasoned musicians.
Their music is textural rather than improvisational, emphasizing the synergies of group interplay over individual expression. FGHR have appeared at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and on ABC TV Sunday Arts, and perform regularly in Melbourne.
Live, FGHR are joined by drummer Daniel Farrugia, guitarist Ben Edgar and multi-instrumentalist Ross Irwin.
